Wendt’s on the Lake honored with Spirit of Hospitality Award
Wendt’s on the Lake was recognized at Marian University’s 44th annual Business and Industry Awards Dinner on October 22, 2025, receiving the Spirit of Hospitality Award. The honor recognizes businesses that exemplify hospitality in the Fond du Lac area, and Wendt’s was celebrated for its quality food, outstanding service, and dedication to the community.
“We’re truly honored to receive an award that recognizes our dedication to hospitality and community,” said Shawn Wendt, co-owner. “At Wendt’s, it’s always been about more than great food, it’s about tradition and giving back.”
Now in its third generation of family ownership, Shawn and Jill Wendt continue the restaurant’s long-standing tradition of supporting local causes through donations, sponsorships, and active participation in events. In 2025, Wendt’s contributed to organizations such as the North Fond du Lac Oriole Open, AmVets Post 7 – Oshkosh, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation – FDL Chapter, and Ripon’s Hike for Heroes, and remained involved in community traditions like Sturgeon for Tomorrow, the Van Dyne Parade & Picnic, and the Youth Duck Hunt.
Since 1962, Wendt’s has been bringing people together, welcoming guests like family, and delivering a true Wisconsin-style fish fry experience. “Community has always been at the heart of who we are,” said Jill Wendt. “Supporting local causes is our way of saying thank you for the support we’ve received for generations.”
